【Virtually Experience an Investor's Life】Is Saving Alone Enough? Peek into the Future of Your Assets

Many people want to start investing but hesitate, thinking, "I'm scared to buy stocks," "I don't know what to invest in," or "I hate losing money."

Putting complex theories aside, this simulator allows you to realistically experience the future trajectory of your assets.

We have developed the "Investor's Life Simulator", which lets you try out your life's asset management without taking any risk, especially for those who are new to investing.

★ By simply entering your annual expenses, the simulator automatically calculates your FIRE Target Amount*.

*FIRE: Financial Independence, Retire Early. Although definitions vary, a common target is 25 times your annual expenses.

★ The simulator reproduces "random fluctuations" similar to real markets, allowing you to experience the true challenge and potential return of investing.

★ Everything except your starting age is always modifiable!

You can freely reflect life events such as "increasing investment amount due to a raise or job change," "withdrawing funds for a wedding," "changing the expected rate due to a change in investment strategy," "incurring hospital fees due to an accident or illness," or "increasing investment after inheriting an estate." The flexible specifications make it enjoyable even for experienced investors.

I encourage you to simulate all the events of your life and envision a rich and fulfilling investor's life.

If you found this simulator even slightly "interesting" or "useful," please consider supporting T-Kuma's activities via the link at the bottom of the page. Your small support will be a great source of strength for my survival.

🎯 Simulator Specifications and How to Play

This simulator is designed for investment beginners to reflect "life decisions" in their investing and experience long-term asset building.

3.1. Basic Operation Rules

  • "Advance 1 Year" Button
    • Each time you press this button, your age increases by one year, and your asset amount is updated based on a random market return.
    • Initial Age Setting: The age can only be changed once initially. It will be locked the moment the button is pressed for the first time, and cannot be changed thereafter.
  • Value Tracking: The simulator now tracks both the **Asset Amount** (market value) and the **Total Invested** (principal/capital contributed), making it easier to compare them in the chart.
  • Free Modification of Values (Replicating Life Events)
    • All numerical values—"Current Asset Amount," "This Year's New Investment," "Expected Rate of Return," "Volatility," and "Annual Living Expense"—can be manually modified at any time.
    • Example: Increase "This Year's New Investment" after a promotion, or manually decrease the "Current Asset Amount" if expenses increase due to marriage, to reflect life decisions.
  • Continuation of New Investment
    • The "This Year's New Investment" amount, once entered, will be automatically included in the calculation for subsequent years unless you manually change it (simulating regular, sustained contributions).
  • Calculation Premise
    • Taxes and fees are not considered. This assumes the use of tax-advantaged accounts (e.g., Roth IRA, 401k, ISA) common in many countries.

3.2. Asset Calculation Logic (Random Element)

  • The core of this simulator is the random determination of the annual return, allowing you to experience the reality of **uncertainty** in the market.
  • Return Determination: The annual return is determined based on a **Normal Distribution** where the user-set "Expected Rate of Return" is the mean, and **"Volatility"** (the intensity of market fluctuations) is the standard deviation.
  • Formula: (Previous Asset Amount + This Year's New Investment) × (1 + Annual Return)

3.3. Evaluation Criteria (FIRE Achievement Display)

  • Goal Setting: The goal asset amount (FIRE Target) is automatically calculated and displayed (top right) based on the early retirement benchmark: **25 times the Annual Living Expense**.
  • Goal Tracking: The asset transition chart now includes a line showing the **Total Invested** amount, making it easy to compare the market value of assets with the original capital invested.
  • Moment of Achievement: The moment your current asset amount **exceeds** the FIRE Target asset amount during the simulation, a special achievement message will be displayed in a **fixed area**. The message will remain even after the simulation advances, without being overwritten by the return information.
  • This simulator **does not account for inflation.** In reality, actual living expenses may increase by a few percent annually due to inflation.

Unshaken by Downturns

Unshaken by falling markets,
unshaken by currencies that swing,
by inflation,
by words spoken from podiums.

With a body trained to endure,
with desire still alive,
yet rarely ruled by anger,
I try to smile quietly.

I start my days simply—
bread, soup,
a small order before the noise begins.

Taking in all things,
filtered through my own emotions,
sometimes understanding too much,
sometimes forgetting on purpose.

When someone to the east sells in panic,
I listen.
When someone to the west grows tired,
I bring something warm.
When someone to the south is close to liquidation,
I say, let’s have a drink.
When the north is burning with outrage,
I watch in silence.

I lose money.
I hesitate.
I wonder why only my holdings fall.

They say they don’t quite understand me.
Sometimes they praise me.
I let it pass.

This is the kind of investor
I want to become.
